The Salt Lake County Fleet Maintenance Building replaced the existing heavy duty shop and administration facilities who were deemed inadequate due to their inability to serve County Fleet department functions, in addition to mechanical and structural issues. The new facility features a 34,000 square foot, 20 bay service shop and vehicle parts storage area, and a 6,500 square foot administrative area. Conceptually, the design takes inspiration from “muscle” cars of the 1970’s, which are a beautiful example of a marriage between heavy, internal machinery and a sleek, external skin.
